Mormon Row

I fell asleep in the Grand Tetons one night with the anticipation to go photograph the famous house on Mormon Row the following morning. The alarm was set for an ungodly hour that only bears and owls are awake, and I threw on the clothes I had laid out the night before. I drove to the location I had programmed into my phone the night before, I put on my jacket, hat, gloves and scarf, I put my camera on its tripod and hoisted it over my shoulder and walked in the pitch black towards where I thought the house was. I spend my days hoping to see wildlife, but at that moment I was pretty glad there were no bears or moose around (that I could see anyway). It was JUST me, out in a field, in the dark, in the freezing temps, waiting for the sun to come up. Who even knew if it would be a pretty morning?! I may have packed snacks, but I did not check the weather! About 45 minutes later I saw the tips of the peaks of the mountains, then more, then even more and it all turned perfectly, beautifully pink! I was thrilled that as the sun rose behind me, I saw a few other crazy humans doing the same thing I was. Whew, I wasn't alone! The "golden hour" only lasted about 15-20 minutes before it was already too bright with too many shadows. I packed up, threw my tripod and camera over my shoulder, and at about 7:00 am, I went to search for bear and moose - and boy did I find them!
